My Trekking Adventures!

For me being adventurous was always a part of my life. Ever since I was a kid I always wanted to do something diverse which would pump in adrenaline rush. I was involved with many such activities and always found trekking & hiking irresistible. When I was in the school, I used to go out with my friends to discover new places. Monsoon used to be the perfect time for us. Lush greenery, awesome landscape used to thrill us. With very little knowledge of trekking techniques & no equipments we amateurs use to conquer great heights, literally! We never understood the risk of life, just went on ahead with what we liked.

And no it was not an easy bargain, climbing steep slopes & sloppy mountains had all thrills but sometimes used to fetch us a bad wrangle with our parents. No, it isn’t their mistake; we should understand that our parents are concerned about us. Many a times I used to get good bashings from my parents for not attending classes and roving out with my friends without informing them.

My real encounter with trekking came when I joined college in Navi Mumbai. The place where I stay from past 5 years has everything to offer for trekking and hiking. The first time I came here, I just loved the surrounding. The area is covered by huge mountains and creek. Beautiful waterfall is the main attraction here. Moment new friends were made; everyone decided to go on for a trek there. It was a Sunday and was raining heavily. What more needed on a trek! It was just awesome and mostly cherished.

Since then I had hardly any opportunity to go out for a trek anywhere. Studies, my project & work kept me busy. You may call it my fortune or my destiny but my work provided me with a prospect for trekking and going places and I just love it. The first trek organized by our group was “Cleanliness Drive at Mahuli Fort”. To arrange a trek for a cause was on our prime agenda. It was a new experience as I have always been to trek for fun, but this was the first time we had been out with some moral responsibility.

They say that one should have all experiences be it good or bad and in my case I had both and can say that I have just traveled a little distance but I truly believe that the best experience is yet to come.
